Le Refuge - Megève

One of our best restaurants in Megeve, every dish is special.. I can’t recommend any particular dish.. as you should try it all. Highly recommended

Our best dining experience in Megeve. Beautiful setting, unbelievable food (probably the best entrecote I've ever had) and wonderful service by Oceane (hope i spelt it right) very much recommended.

very very nice place, large portions and delicious food, I recommend! Small tip: switch the cutlery for the starter and main course, and make sure you have toothpicks in the restaurant.

We came to restaurant accidentally, and it was the best thing we have done in Megeve. The stuff was very welcoming and supportive. We very thankful for them as we came without a reservation. The food is very testy and the service unforgettable. I consider this restaurant as hidden Gem in Megeve.

I visited this place last night with my boyfriend and we were amazed not only by the food, but the great service they provided us with. The place was very cozy, yet elegant and quiet. It is situated outside of Megève, above the main part of the city and you will get an amazing view of the beautiful trees around. The food was impeccable, good quality - a great example of classic French cuisine. I was pleased with the service too-young and qualified people will serve you with a smile without being intrusive. Great managing from the director and we will definitely come back again.

The setting of the restaurant is magnificent, a long winding drive up the mountain to the snowy refuge. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and showed to our table promptly. Our table for two was quite small, and it was in very close proximity to the surrounding tables. This was fine, but I would’ve preferred a little more breathing room especially with the amount of trips the staff was making past the table. The recommendations were good and the servers and sommelier were very friendly and knowledgable. The wine suggestion was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was good, we started with snails which were excellent, my partner then had the Bresse chicken which was magnificent. My beef wellington was good, but it needed more of a second lager under the pastry, it was more as if it had just been brushed with the pate. The meat was a little on the cold side. The gratin and salad were brilliant. The pudding was underwhelming, a couple of plain biscuits and a chocolate sauce with some ice cream. Maybe we didn’t order well but I expected something a little more exciting to finish the meal. Another thing to note and be aware of is that the place is extremely hot - lovely when you enter from the mountainside but not as good when you’re halfway through a bottle of red wine and you made the error of wearing a sweater with nothing underneath. We did enjoy the meal but if I could make a few changes, I would like to have been in the front of the restaurant nearer the entrance where you get more of the atmosphere and with a little bit more room around the table so I couldn’t hear every bite of the couple next to us. Oh and to lower the temperature just a little! Overall a memorable dinner but some small changes would’ve made it outstanding.

Some of the best food in all of France. Must try. The duck, spinach and soufflé were divine.

Super nice Restaurant with very good dishes. Our visit was almost perfect. Only the meat knifes for our duck that were brought to our table additionaly were dusty. Otherwise very attentive service, food cooked on point with excellent flavors, sauces and sides. Cozy mountain hut ambience.
